A lot of you are new here, so I wanted to introduce you to Lilyan and share a little more of her story. ❤️ Lilyan’s life started in the CVICU. At just 2 weeks old, she had her first open heart surgery. She spent 134 days in the CVICU, including 6 weeks intubated. She would later go through another open heart surgery, along with surgeries for a cleft palate and intestinal malrotation. Today, Lilyan is almost 8 years old. She is autistic, intellectually disabled, and nonverbal. She has come incredibly far from that tiny baby in the hospital, but her disabilities affect nearly every part of her daily life. Things most children learn naturally, like putting on their own shoes or even jumping, are skills Lilyan still needs help learning. She requires assistance with everyday tasks and constant supervision because she has very little awareness of danger. And if you’ve been following us, you’ve also gotten to see the Lilyan we know every day. The happy squeals, the silliness, the smiles, and her very big personality. ❤️ Her needs didn’t disappear when she left the hospital. They just changed as she grew. Right now, one of those needs is a safe place to sleep. We’ve started a GoFundMe to help purchase a Haven safety bed for Lilyan because the safety measures we’ve relied on are no longer enough as she gets bigger and stronger. This is Lilyan.
