Here's the thing OP, everyone not involved or somewhat involved is always going to have an opinion. Based on their own relationship with certain individuals not on your own. Also based on their perception of what happened and not actually having to experience it and always be the one to take the high road or suck it up or whatever you have to endure in order to and I quote here keep the peace. So very real advice because I've been in a similar situation I would say… Do not forgive your parents until you are ready to do so sincerely and because through the sincerity, you've come to some sort of a resignation realization, and there are really truly no hard feelings. But forgiving them, and then also forgetting, and not altering the relationship is a huge mistake that people often overlook. So forgive them when you're ready if you feel you need to I personally don't feel it's necessary to have to forgive people if they're terribly wrong to you or I think allow it to take however, long it takes if it's the rest of your life, so be it. But it does sound like you owe yourself and your new husband, a reprieve from the toxicity. So go no contact and go live your lives in peace. Because holding onto that relationship will do two things. One it'll force you and now your husband into a position of having to constantly just let things go cause nothing's gonna change on their end. And to it will continue to enable the offenders and their actions or lack of actions to continue. They'll never learn they'll never grow. They'll never face any real consequences and they'll never have to truly be accountable for their actions. Good luck to you.
