Maybe I’m unreasonable for this, but if my partner makes plans with their friend group any anyone else in that friend group’s partner gets to go then I expect to be invited too, and if I’m not my assumption is either that their friends don’t like me, or they themselves are embarrassed of me, or some combination of the two

My mom loves The Cheesecake Factory, but she’s apparently not “allowed” to go without my stepdad because he wants to go with her. Yet whenever she asks him to go, he refuses to pay for it and says it’s not worth the money. So basically, she can’t go without him, but he also won’t go with her because he doesn’t think it’s worth spending the money.

Honestly the restaurant thing pisses me off more. If I made plans to go to dinner with my wife and she wanted to try a new place and I made the plans and then she tells me she’s going out their friends before we go and it was her idea, I’m fuming. That’s serious disrespect.

The partner you choose to spend the rest of your life should mean more to you than your friends And if your partner sets a reasonable boundary, and you decide to break that boundary, or try to "tiptoe" that boundary and/or make your partner feel like that boundary means nothing, You need to expect to deal with the consequences of your decision
