@informedhealing: During a divorce, an abusive partner might even steal the diamond earrings THEY gave you, then convince you that YOU were irresponsible for leaving them near the sink and must have dropped them down the drain. And when you start questioning their story? Suddenly, the toddler must have put them down the drain. But somehow, it’s STILL your fault for leaving them near the sink. (Not my personal story.) This is how calculated and insidious psychological abuse can be. They’ll manufacture confusion, undermine your trust in your own memory, and shift the blame to avoid accountability. And yes, some abusers will even throw their own children under the bus to protect themselves. It’s not about the missing earrings. It’s about the manipulation, the gaslighting, and the ongoing pattern of control. And sometimes, the most disturbing part isn’t what they took from you.
