@witnwisdomappstyle: 🍎 Old-Time Halloween in Appalachia 🎃 Halloween wasn’t always about costumes and candy. In the mountains, some of the fun came from old traditions passed down through generations. One favorite was apple peeling. A young woman would try to peel an apple in one long, unbroken strip, then toss the peel over her shoulder. Folks said the shape it made when it landed might reveal the first initial of her future husband’s name. ❤️ And then there was bobbing for apples—a favorite at Halloween gatherings, parties, and community get-togethers. With your hands behind your back, you tried to grab a floating apple using nothing but your teeth. 🍎 Simple entertainment, a little superstition, and a whole lot of fun. Did you ever bob for apples—or try the apple-peel tradition? #AppalachianWitAndWisdom #AppalachianTraditions #AppalachianFolklore #OldTimeHalloween #HalloweenTraditi

Yes I miss the sense of community. We bobbed for apples , hung them on strings & try to bite w out using hands. We had hayrides & corn mazes
