@spaceaccordingtoskylar: Who gets to control the darkness of night? A startup in California thinks they do. Let’s talk about it. #Astronomy #space #spacenews #reflectorbital #darksky
We’re truly living in the age of just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should

There was an experiment a few years ago on how plants react to 24 hours of light. Turns out they did worse. Plants need a period of rest from photosynthesis also!

It is a cool idea but they won't get the license to deploy the satellites anyways. on top of that the thousands per hour cost will end it before it begins. They just eant a larger company to buy them up and walk away

Reflecting light that has bypassed earth and shining it onto the dark side seems like an incredibly stupid idea given the current climate change crisis

AkashaQuinn 🇨🇦 :
The plants and animals literally depend on the seasons and they need the dark, they need the light if they don’t have enough of each, so many plants and animals are just gonna go extinct.

So, they want to put MORE sunlight and solar radiation into the earth, all day... when we already have global climate shift caused by human intervention... yeaaah. This wont be used for increasing profits and lore grift based profiteering... sigh.

Seems like a cool idea. It is a toggle, so astronomers will just have to schedule with them.
