@expedition.ola: Picking Javier up from the vet🐶❤️‍🩹 His neuter went wonderfully, but his bloodwork and tick panels revealed a few things our little guy is dealing with! Javi tested positive for Ehrlichia, a tick borne disease, and he’s also anemic. Both are unfortunately very common issues among street dogs here in Mexico, and while they can become incredibly serious, even life threatening if left untreated, the good news is that they’re treatable🙏🏼 We’ve got all the medications he needs and can’t wait to see how he feels once he’s totally healthy! Javi is such an important reminder that a dog doesn’t have to be skin and bones, covered in wounds, or visibly suffering to need help. He was a happy, playful little guy who seemed to be doing pretty well for himself on the streets, but underneath it all, his body was dealing with things we couldn’t even see! SO many street dogs are living with parasites, tick diseases, infections, and other health issues that can go completely unnoticed without veterinary care. Just because a dog looks okay doesn’t mean they are thriving, they’re surviving🥹 And after a big day at the vet, we had a pretty exciting surprise waiting for Javier back at the rig… a new pack member😂🐾
