I’ve been on both sides of things. I have been clean for 18 years, but I do drink socially. I was completely abstinent from all mind altering chemicals for six years before I made the decision to re-introduce alcohol. I’m not here for all the judgmental comments about that, it’s my decision and it has worked from my recovery. As far as other people are concerned, I ask them. Are you comfortable if I have a beer. I give them the space to be honest with me, and if they are uncomfortable with it, then I don’t have a beer. Everyone is different and I support all roads to recovery – I also support open and honest communication.

I'm sober and personally I dont care. It actually helps because the smell of it makes me nauseous and seeing people drunk makes me proud I'm not lol

for me it doesnt bother me to be around it as long as no one brings attention to the fact that im not drinking

My husband quit drinking almost 8 months ago. He didn’t mind that others drank around him as long as it wasn’t the Jim Beam he drank. My sister was rude enough, after she had had some drinks, and asked him to make her a drink. He also thought it was rude but it was vodka and he hates vodka so he said it didn’t really bother him. He drinks Zero beer when people that drink are drinking. He says it makes him feel like he still fits in. lol

My sobriety journey is mine and mine alone! Drinking around me is totally fine and encouraged, I would say the only triggering thing is when people over drink. I never expect friends to have non alc options (ghia, de soi, three spirit) but find it super sweet when they do 💖
