🚨 CDF Muhoozi Announces Demotion of Lt. Gen. Peter Elweru to Private, Brands Him a Traitor Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has announced the demotion of Lt. Gen. Peter Elweru from his military rank to Private, publicly describing him as a traitor in a post on X on October 26, 2026. Muhoozi’s announcement has sparked fresh attention around Elweru, a senior military officer who previously served as Deputy Chief of Defence Forces before being removed from the position. Elweru is also remembered for his role in the 2016 UPDF operation in Kasese, during which security forces stormed the palace of the Rwenzururu Kingdom. The operation resulted in significant casualties and attracted international attention, including US sanctions against Elweru. The Kasese operation was conducted amid tensions involving the Rwenzururu Kingdom and allegations of separatist activities in the region. In subsequent posts, Muhoozi reportedly referred to the arrest of some soldiers who had previously served under Elweru and called for the former deputy CDF to surrender, adding to the unfolding developments surrounding the senior officer. However, further details regarding the circumstances and formal procedures behind the announced demotion have not been independently established. The developments come amid renewed attention to military leadership and the relationship between Muhoozi and Elweru. Stay tuned to CelebPatrol.ug for more updates on this developing story.
