You often call the right “fascist,” but isn’t silencing, censoring, or trying to punish people simply for expressing unpopular opinions a troubling step in that direction? If free speech only applies to people you agree with, what exactly are you defending? If you believe nobody is above the law, are you willing to apply that same standard to politicians you voted for? If you believe questioning authority is important, why shouldn’t Americans question the media, government agencies, or political narratives without automatically being labeled conspiracy theorists? And if you believe democracy depends on informed voters, shouldn’t you be willing to research arguments that challenge your own political beliefs? You don’t have to like Donald Trump. You don’t have to vote Republican. But you should be able to explain and defend your political positions without relying on your hatred of the opposing party.
