COWGIRL COOKING 🧡🍳Baking Powder Biscuits I’m still trying to learn the art of Dutch oven cooking! I’m sharing all the recipes I find along the way. This one is a family recipe! Ingredients: 3 cups flour 5 teaspoons baking powder 1 Teaspoon salt 1 1/2 cups Buttermilk (you can also mix butter with vinegar) Small cubes butter *optional Instructions: 1. Start your fire/coals (26-30 coals) or preheat oven to 350 degrees 2. In a medium sized mixing bowl mix together all dry ingredients. 3. Add buttermilk to mixture and mix together with a fork until just combined, turn out onto a floured work surface a pat or roll dough into the shape of a square. 4. Fold the dough in half by flipping on side of the dough directly on top of the other, do this twice then roll it out again. Repeat 3-4x. This creates flakiness and layers in your biscuits. You can also add small cubes of butter into your dough at this time if you’d like. 5. Pat down or roll out your dough until about 3/4 inches thick and cut out 12 - 2 inch circles. 6. Place parchment paper in the bottom of your Dutch oven or grease with butter, lay biscuits in a single layer. 7. Place in preheated oven or if baking it Dutch oven arrange coals: 8-10 on bottom, 16-18 on top (Turning oven 1/2 way through to even out hotspots) 8. Bake 30-35 minutes until tops / sides are golden brown Note: When I attempted this recipe I actually “preheated” my Dutch oven and the bottoms of the biscuits were just a little darker than I preferred. I won’t preheat it next time or I’ll only preheat the lid. #cowgirlcooking #dutchovenrecipes #ranchlife @Benchmade Knife Company
