They are not your family. They do not care if you die. They will not reward you for yourself sacrifice. Take your breaks. Take your vacation and do not pick up an additional shift unless you really want to.

I’m a cna. If I take a break that means someone didn’t get showered, rounds weren’t done, and we’ll be late to lunch. If we take care of ourselves someone’s needs get neglected

It took me many years, but finally realized it’s just not worth it. I go outside and take me a full 30. No one to interrupt, no one to try and steal my food (work LTC), just quiet. It’s coming out of my check anyways.

Thank you! I felt this way all weekend. I had a really demanding assignment. I’m not complaining, I’m grateful to have a job, but being burned out isn’t okay. My boss just asked if I could pick up another shift tonight, and I said no!
