@shannon_stewart_: For years, I knew what the Bible said about grace. I believed it, talked about it, and thought I understood it. But somewhere along the way, I started measuring my faithfulness by the choices I made, the things I didn’t do, and how well I lived up to what I believed. I can remember looking at people who had fallen and silently thanking God that I wasn’t like them. I didn’t recognize the pride in my own heart. At the same time, I was desperately trying to earn a love that God had already freely given me. My worth had become so wrapped up in my performance that I didn’t know who I was without it. And then I fell. What I discovered wasn’t that I suddenly needed God’s grace. It was that I had desperately needed it all along. My obedience had never earned His love, and my failure hadn’t placed me beyond the reach of His mercy.
