Duguay d*ed on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 69. He had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. On Monday, Oct. 26, the New York Rangers honored him before their game against the Los Angeles Kings at Madison Square Garden. The team asked fans to join in a moment of silence for “the life and memory” of Duguay. The arena went dark for a few moments. Then the announcer said “Thank you,” and fans cheered. The Rangers also shared a photo of Duguay’s family at the game. Duguay began his NHL career with the Rangers in 1977. He played eight of his 12 seasons with the team. His girlfriend of four years, Sarah Palin, 62, confirmed his d*ath on Instagram. “He fought so hard. Love never ends,” she wrote. His cancer started in his colon and later spread to his appendix and gallbladder. In the months before, his daughters, Shay Thomas and Amber Stavros, shared that the family had started a GoFundMe. Thomas wrote, “Our dad has never been someone who asks for help.” The Rangers called him “one of the most popular players in franchise history.” They said his skating style, “with his hair flowing as he moved down the ice,” captivated the Garden faithful.
