Roc Nation and Apple Music announced the news during ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast. The game featured the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys. Roc Nation also posted on Instagram with the caption, “GOAT’s out of the bag.” Jay-Z has a unique connection to the show. In 2019, he and Roc Nation partnered with the NFL. He is the league’s “live music entertainment strategist,” and he helps choose the halftime performer. Producer Jesse Collins told Variety, “He’s always picked right.” Now he is stepping on stage himself. “From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey,” he said in a statement. “Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage.” Weeks before the announcement, he released an eight-part HBO docuseries, JAŸ-Z in 8, about his catalog. He also performed anniversary shows for the 30th year of Reasonable Doubt and the 25th year of Blueprint. Last year, Bad Bunny headlined the show.
