It’s the whole milk!! Almost 100% sure because whole milk is more of a heavier milk than oat or 2% so most drinks tend to turn out different with looks when while milk is added instead of what’s normally used I’ve noticed that with a few of our drinks

It is possible that they are holding back ice in order to fit your cold foam. However, with lighter ice that milk goes right past. Not allowing for that layer effect

As a Black Apron, they’re filling it with Oat milk because people usually crash out when they see a gap. Order (Brown sugar Oat Shaken Espresso with VSC Cold Foam, Ex Ice)

1. Yes it is suppose to be layered, sometimes the milk will cooperate if pour slowly but most times even if it’s just a splash likes to sink to the bottom and mix with the drink, when the drink is first made it is layered but after legit 3 seconds it all becomes fused

Okay actually that’s how it looks when we first pour in the milk depends on which milk we use too but we can’t control if the milk mixes/seeps in necessarily

haven’t really read what others are saying but as a Starbucks barista and professional shaken espresso maker☝🏻 i can confidently say either the barista making this didn’t put enough ice in it initially, because the ice is really the barrier that keeps the espresso separated from the milk when the milk gets poured in after. OR☝🏻 when they poured your milk in they poured it way too hard/fast, ruining the layered look. I ALWAYS take my time (I’m quick, but take the time i need) layering the milk on top in a smooth but circular motion to make sure it sits pretty😛

I love that you know how your drink is actually supposed to look!! 🤗 There's a good chance that your barista just shook the whole the milk in with it, or made it a latte, because people complain ALL THE TIME that's it's a "shaken" espresso and get mad that there are layers. You even had someone in your comments saying the same thing 🫠 This was such a problem at my store that they had a meeting about it because our scores were dropping simply because people do not know what they're ordering. Thank you for actually knowing what you get.

If you mobile order it it probably has just sat long enough for the milk to mix into the drink which is why it doesn’t look layered anymore

It probably didn’t have enough ice filling the cup, and so more milk was in the drink than usual. They seem to look like that when people order light ice, it messes with the consistency of the drink. Also, if i am reading the sticker right (its hard to see), you have vanilla bean power, and cold foam, and its a mobile order, meaning the cold foam melted into the drink more, which would lighten the color.

So yeah it’s because they have to use less ice to fit the cold foam in there. So when you order have your drink size be grande and then cup size Venti so that they can fit the foam without having to use less ice because the ice is what provides the structure for the layering effect. Also if it sits it does mix together over time

so no your not ordering it wrong but how long was the time span of which you ordered it to when you picked it up because i see it’s mobile order. When they sit for a long time they will like delayer and get watery. If it wasn’t too long then it’s definitely a barista problem and u should just explain to them that it’s wrong (even tho they should know it’s wrong pmo) and they will remake it. As a barista myself i make some BOMB shaken espressos so this breaks my heart i would never hand one out like this lmfao
