I went to trade school in high school. now semi retired at 45 only work when I want to.. while my friends have to work until there 80 .

here's something no one ever realizes. we will always need farmers. we will always need mining companies. we will always need mechanics. you will barely need a doctor, a man in a suit, or a judge. because they're people you'll need to call when something goes wrong. so if you need work, always be the person everyone needs you to be.

carpenter here. they pay me 50 an hour on my regular job. and an easy side job maybe a small deck or installing someones new cabinets in their kitchen can be 3 to 8 grand. for like 3 to 5 days of work. I know concrete carpenters who make 5k for pouring a small slab on someone back yard or sidewalk for their house. 2 days of work 5 grand cash in there pocket.

what they arent telling you though is that while yes you're going to roll in the money awhile. those 2am calls become a lot tougher with kids sleeping. the wear and tear on your body catches up to you sooner than you think. not bashing trades bc they are essential and if someone is smart going in they will build an amazing life for themselves. but let's not act like the office jobs are awful either. I have a 2 year degree from community college and am making 6 figures and the most physical I have to do in a day is walk to and from my car.

I'm a piano technician. run my own company, set my own pay. and do very well. I get a lot of competition lately from other trying to get into the trade, but most of them treat it like a hobby. and eventually those who hired them hire me to fix what they did. definitely get into a trade, but be serious about.
