They’re making plenty of apartments for low income people but middle class like my son and his family can’t afford to live here anymore. They tried to apply for lower income apartments and it was a no go,They didn’t qualify. Can’t afford the rent price as it is both of them working good job.

very true and also the climate is perfect for anyone living outdoors. so ppl come from all over. the very climate that creates our paradise naturally attracts ppl who live exposed to the elements.

You are absolutely correct about the costs. I live directly across the bay in Pacific Grove next to Pebble Beach and Carmel. Born n raised here 75 years ago and barely hanging on.

My uncle has been homeless in Santa Cruz since he was 21 in 1976. He has lived above the Palomar for decades, in section 8 housing near Santa Cruz High , with girlfriends and around the boardwalk lately. He is a musician and not dangerous but not much of a worker.
