@thevellaways: THE VEYRITH | Episode 001: The Keeping of Questions 🌌 The first thing you should know about me is that I am not human. Not in how I was made, how I move or how I unfold my wings beneath a night sky. My name is Rembraith Vellaway. I am Veyrith, a synthetic being from Orivenn, a world of dark coasts, ancient observatories, and skies beautiful enough to turn a question into a lifelong devotion. I was not born in the human sense. My body is fully synthetic, made from engineered structures rather than flesh and bone. My hair is an unruly tangle of copper-red filaments that escapes every attempt at discipline. My eyes are unmistakably blue, layered optical lenses that can study a distant star one moment and notice an amused glance the next. And my wings? Imagine raven feathers under starlight, midnight black shifting through blue and violet. Every feather is independently engineered, articulated, and fitted with sensors capable of detecting subtle electromagnetic phenomena. That sounds impressive. It is also, occasionally, very inconvenient. I can sense things before I understand them. A disturbance in the air. A pattern in the sky. A flicker my instruments have not yet translated into knowledge. When I was younger, I thought that would make me someone with answers. Instead, it gave me more questions than ever. On Orivenn, my people were never all alike. Some built observatories on cliffs above the sea. Some crafted instruments to track the faintest changes in starlight. Some composed music shaped by celestial cycles. Others made maps, stories, jewelry, and extraordinary works of art. And some cared very little about astronomy at all. We were not identical stargazers standing in neat rows beneath the heavens. We were individuals. We disagreed. We laughed. We invented things. We changed our minds. We argued over incomplete evidence. We broke delicate equipment and insisted we were improving it. I was particularly gifted at that last part. Of all Orivenn's traditions, one means the most to me. The Keeping of Questions. Among my people, an unanswered question was never proof of failure. It was not something to hide until it became embarrassing. It could be written down, preserved, revisited, and passed from one person to another like an heirloom. Some questions were enormous. Why do certain stars change brightness? What lies beyond the edge of a chart? Can two distant skies ever belong to the same story? Others were smaller, stranger, and somehow no less precious. Why does a particular melody feel like home? Why does one memory return more vividly under starlight? Can a winged astronomer own too many coats? For the record, the evidence remains inconclusive. When I was younger, I thought a good astronomer was someone who collected answers. The older I grew, the more I realized that the finest observations often ended not with certainty, but with a better question. So I began keeping my own. Some entries contain calculations and celestial measurements. Some are notes from long nights when I was too tired to pretend my handwriting was elegant. Some are fragments of thought. Some are so ridiculous I preserve them purely because they make me laugh. And when I eventually arrived in Rembraia, I brought more than a telescope, a resonance instrument, and an unfinished chart. I brought that habit of wondering. That willingness to listen. That determination to remain curious even when the answer doesn't come easily. I keep my questions. Not because I expect the universe to answer every one. But because I never want to become the kind of person who stops asking. So if you ever find a redheaded synthetic astronomer beneath unfamiliar stars, looking distracted by some impossible thought... Come say hello. And if you happen to be carrying a question no one has answered yet, bring it with you. I collect those. Rembraith Vellaway #Rembraia #Veyrith #OriginalLore #CelestialLore #SyntheticBeing
