@newschambers: Former peacekeeper and independent Senator @tomclonan has accused the government of "illiteracy" on defence and security, and that a proposed EU mission in Lebanon would be a breach of neutrality. The triple lock debate has intensified in the days since the Dail vote last week. This weekend, former President Michael D Higgins said the Government had been "less than honest" and that the country was "sliding" into military alliances. The Taoiseach and Foreign Affairs Minister say that's not the case and there has been "misinformation" in the political debate on the issue.
isn't one of the arguments that we would need all UN countries to vote for us to join a war, this would include Russia and China, who would block us from a war with them if it were to come about? resulting in us not fighting in said war? is that not a safe position to be in? if anyone can help us understand this situation..
