D3 isn’t about athletic scholarships. It’s about going to school and still being able to play their sport.

My granddaughters, 20 and 22, play soccer together at a D3 school. Academic scholarships and grants cover everything but less than $2,000 of their $51,000 tuition. They’re going for the education, soccer is a bonus.

This will close hundreds of d 3 athletics programs because these schools simply do not have the funding for this and will not be able to compete in the level they have been at for many years.

d3 has had “”non-athletic scholarship”” for a while. Teams will find money for players they want

I think SOME d3 schools should have them, not all. I was also a casual and thought NAIA didn’t have them either but they do and I’m sure it’s jus cuz their colleges aren’t private or anything like that but even then it’s just weird but not shocking that naia has it but not d3.

This wouldn’t make schools close their programs, it’d give a lot more chances for walk ons. Some D3’s are going to dominate but it’s not like those same D3’s aren’t paying their athletes under the table

All that will happen is taking back academic scholarships and making them athletic and you will still pay the same. Most d3 schools can’t afford giving full rides

This will result in most DIII programs shutting down. Most schools couldn’t afford this.

Some ppl don’t know the struggle of school work and football 😂 it’s not easy but you gotta drop 10-35k to play a sport depending on your package and situation. Most times just from what Ik athletes don’t even get full academic scholarships.

This cannot happen or there will be no NCAA D3. Most D3s cannot afford to give athletic scholarships.

Their is just not that much money at d3 almost no programs turn a profit this just is not realistic and only chance is that you would have very limited scholarships so it’s just better to clear it off the board

It would just decrease merit based scholarships that students receive. Be similar to the NAIA format due to size. Even now, there are times a D3 financial offer is still better than a NAIA offering some athletic money.

I could see this or something like this as the return of schools having teams play in different divisions. Like the lawsuit determines that the NCAA can't ban a school from overall using athletic scholarships but will still allow schools to opt not to in certain sports and then the NCAA will in turn allow schools to have sports specific divisions. So if someone wants to offer 105 football scholarships then they are eligible for FBS but if they only want to offer a up to a total of 35 then they are eligible for D2 and if they don't want to offer any they're eligible for D3 in each specific sport

Not that I agree or disagree with D3 schools giving scholarships but if this were to happen the gap between the WIAC and the rest of D3 will widen significantly.

What about the NCAA sharing some of that stacked money from years of television deals for the last 30 plus years and fund all Divisions!!![Perfect score][Perfect score][Perfect score]

The cost per athlete at a typical DIII school may be about $60k to $65k per athlete. Let’s say 100 athletes on the roster. Nope. Won’t work. DI schools take in millions for media and gate receipts. That pool of money isn’t there for DIII.

So if you played in 2022, but you exhausted your eligibility, but this gets passed. You should get a year back.
