@historicaltidbits: 🌊 I thought Rock Springs was dying… until I checked the data 📊 Most people float right past this hidden side-stream at Rock Springs, completely oblivious to what’s a few dozen feet away from the main run.🌿 When I compared my footage of this sand boil from 2018 to today, the pool had shrunk, the stream narrowed, and the rolling boil turned into tiny trickles. 💧 I honestly feared the spring was gradually drying up just like Kissingen Spring did decades ago. But after checking the official St. Johns River Water Management District data, I learned the truth: spring discharge is completely stable, and overall water levels haven't dropped significantly! 📈 The shifting sand and exposed rock shelf are just natural geological changes. Rock Springs is still flowing strong... at least for now. 🐊 #floridasprings #rocksprings #centralflorida #geology #LearnHistoryonTikTok
The City of Apopka and Lake County government are working to dry it up by putting as many houses as possible in the area.

Those mini springs always rise and fall with the water table. On a dryer year they stopped all together.

Bottle water and city growth slowing the pressure would be the best guess

Its because our state is being recklessly developed pavement and gentrification sits on top of vital wetlands and other wild land that cam no longer absorbs the rain and puts it in the aquifer it also doesn’t help that as these developments are made more people move on and draw more water from the well

I would trust the saint johns water management as much as I would trust any politician. They havent had our best interest in mind for at least the last decade. Once you know how those on the board get appointed, your faith in them dissappears.
