But death is only the beginning. Shauna Flynn returns to her childhood home in Park Slope, Brooklyn, with one purpose: to get her four younger sisters out of the city before it's too late. Hera, Jane, Rose, and Cleo are eighth-grade quadruplets, four very different girls whose greatest worries should be homework, friendships, and growing up. Instead, they are about to inherit a nightmare. A dirty bomb detonates in Manhattan, transforming the heart of New York into a radioactive wasteland. Toxic dust drifts across Brooklyn. Streets empty, communications fail, and the familiar world collapses into fear and silence. Shauna's only concern is keeping her sisters alive. But something else is stirring in the ruins. In the cemeteries, beneath the streets, and among the abandoned buildings, the dead are no longer resting. And as the living struggle to escape a poisoned city, something ancient and terrible seems to have awakened. For Shauna and her sisters, surviving the catastrophe is only the beginning. Because in the new New York, the dead are coming home.
