Tips summarized: 1. Plan your insurance before you get pregnant and time it with open enrollment. Select hospital indemnity highest tier on insurance. Select short term disability. This will give you a check while you’re not working. Many places of work do not provide pay while you are not working. If they do, like in my case, it’s only an advance of your check. Once you go back to work, this money is taken out of your salary (so much smaller checks while working. Ew??) this is my experience in Texas btw. 2. Trial run your spouse covering all bills before you give birth to see how it goes. Save all your money on the side to create an emergency fund. 3. Open a high yield savings account (American Express for example). You can put savings here and earn interest money on top of what you put in. 4.baby shower: do a diaper raffle. Have your coworkers do a diaper drop off. We are 4 months in and have not bought any diapers or wipes so far and still have a good amount stocked. 5. Get a lot of size 2 diapers. That’s what we ended up needing the most early on. 6. Breast feed if you can. Formula is already expensive and ON THE RISE. Companies know it’s a necessity and inflate it to earn a profit off the backs of parents who have no choice but to use formula. 7. Bulk buy meat and package in small quantities so you can portion control dinners/meals to decrease waste. ??I think that’s it!
