@thesameerproject: The fear of famine is back in Gaza. Since October 13, the Israeli occupation has severely restricted the entry of commercial goods into Gaza. Although limited shipments have recently resumed, supplies are nowhere near enough to meet the overwhelming demand. Market stalls are empty, and prices are skyrocketing. On October 22, our team documented these prices in Gaza City, per kilogram, before and commission fees: Tomatoes: $4 Onions: $4 Potatoes: $4 Lemons: $5 Avocados: $7 Fruit: $6 And this is happening just as international organizations are cutting food assistance. The World Food Programme has reduced daily hot meals from 250,000 to 150,000, leaving hundreds of thousands with less support. Families who survived famine are once again terrified of starvation. They have already exhausted their savings, sold their belongings, and endured years of deprivation. How much more can they withstand? The Sameer Project continues to provide free meals and bread to families who cannot afford to buy food. Support our Food and Water Campaing to help.
