@norcalcountryclub: For this edition of NorCal Country Roots, we’re looking back at a place woven into decades of Bay Area country music memories. Hank Guenther opened The Saddle Rack in San Jose on August 13, 1976. Over the years, its stage welcomed artists including Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, the Charlie Daniels Band, and Martina McBride. And check out that Neil Young ticket from 1984! 👀🎟️ After the original club closed in 2001, The Saddle Rack found a new home in Fremont in 2003. Live bands, line dancing, the mechanical bull, and nights spent with friends became part of another chapter. The Fremont club closed during the pandemic in 2020. Then, in September 2025, “The Rack Is Back” brought fans together at The Clubhouse in Fremont for an event organizers reported had sold out.
