AI AGENTS ARE BECOMING ECONOMIC PARTICIPANTS. 🤖💸 AI is no longer just generating content, answering questions, or automating workflows. It is beginning to participate directly in the digital economy. According to Allium’s Q3 2026 payments report, AI agents executed 68.3 million payment transactions during the quarter, roughly double the comparison period highlighted in the report. What makes this trend especially interesting is that transaction volume is rising much faster than payment value. Despite the surge in activity, total payment value reached only around $3.7 million and was lower than the previous period. That suggests AI agents may be developing a very different payment behavior from humans. Instead of making a smaller number of high-value transactions, autonomous agents could generate enormous volumes of small, machine-to-machine payments paying for APIs, data access, computing resources, digital services, and other usage-based infrastructure automatically. As this model expands, the role of blockchain becomes increasingly relevant. AI agents need wallets, programmable payments, transparent settlement, and infrastructure that can operate continuously without relying on manual human interaction. But this shift also creates a bigger challenge. If autonomous machines can hold wallets, make payments, and interact across digital ecosystems, the ability to distinguish real humans from AI agents and automated accounts becomes increasingly important. This is where the intersection of Human Identity, AI, and Web3 starts to matter.
