Now why on earth would you lie??? The Cullinan Diamond was discovered on January 26, 1905, at the Premier No. 2 Mine in Cullinan, South Africa (near Pretoria) The Transvaal Colony government bought the rough diamond for £150,000 in 1907 and presented it to King Edward VII as a birthday gift to help mend relations after the Boer War.

The story is actually about De Beers mine who become the largest company and they bought it from the De Beer family in a town called Kimberly , where a little boy found those stones on the ground and when the British 🇬🇧 saw it , they bought it off them for next to nothing The original owners: The De Beer brothers acquired the farm in 1860.
The purchaser in 1871: It was bought by Alfred Ebden and a group of Port Elizabeth businessmen, rather than directly by the later De Beers company.
The price: Historical accounts give the sale price as approximately 6,000 guineas (some sources record £6,000 or £6,600).
What happened next: The Cape Colonial Government purchased the land in 1875 for £100,000. The mining interests later became part of the industry consolidated under De Beers.
