@mindyonthemove: The USA has a BRAND NEW National Park… and it’s home to the cutest animal you’ve probably never heard of before! 📍Chiricahua National Park, Arizona (Officially our 64th National Park)! 🎉 Coatis are the cutest / oddest-looking animal that most Americans don’t even realize exists… let alone can be found IN the USA, itself! 📌 Save for your future national park adventures and share with your best wildlife-loving pals! More info below (where & when to see them): 🥾 We’ve had the best luck spotting coatis in Chiricahua National Park along the Silver Spur Meadow Trail (between the Visitor’s Center, Bonita Canyon Campground & Faraway Ranch). 🌄 Coatis are diurnal so the best time to spot them = early morning or late evening (around sunset). 👃 Keep your nose wide open and smell for their signature scent (smells kind of like a mix between a fox and a skunk - but nowhere near AS bad as a skunk. It’s a little bit musky; a little bit sweet). They are covered in an orange oil that gets on everything! ✨ If you see one alone, it’s probably a male. The females and the babies “band” together (and are called a “band of coatis”). 👉🏻 Want to help protect these cutie-patooties?! Follow @world_coati_day (they’re dedicated to protecting coatimundis) and see ways you can be a part of the action! ⚠️ Even though they’re adorable, they’re still wild animals! Always keep a safe distance away (these clips were captured using a telephoto zoom lens). Never touch or feed wildlife and alwaysssss respect them! #ChiricahuaNationalPark #explorearizona #nationalparksusa #nationalparks #wildlife | USA’s brand new national park | Chiricahua National Park | wildlife in Chiricahua National Park | What to see in Chiricahua National Park
