this might be weird but a few months ago i was your cashier at trader joe’s and after your videos started popping up on my page. i recognized you because i had been having a horrible week and you were one of the only people who treated me with genuine kindness. that impact lasted much longer than my shift. i really empathize with these feelings especially when your mind/body balance seems off, it’s almost unimaginable to get yourself out of the house. i just wanted to share this because even though you’re feeling down about the way you’re moving through the world right now, you have a beautiful spirit and i believe good things come back around to good people. be easy on yourself during this 🤍

Dude, I am DEAD serious! This is something that people have reported experiencing while taking GLP-1 medications, and it deserves so much more attention. It’s called anhedonia, and it’s the loss of the ability to experience pleasure or joy in things that used to make you happy. We’re talking about people describing a profound loss of motivation, excitement, and interest in life itself. That is NOT something we should casually dismiss! I’m not saying every person taking these medications will experience it, or that the connection has been definitively proven. But these reports deserve serious scientific investigation!

I recommend getting a second opinion on your medication regimen if you are having these intense symptoms. Taking the wrong medication can be more dangerous than no medication when it comes to mental health.

The "cry for community" hit me in the feels. I long for people who give what I give and want me around. I don't know how to find that and I'm at the point of giving up.

I'll tell you. when I was on semaglutide i felt like this and it got really bad. I switched to tirz and it went away. I'm still on meds for anxiety, etc but it's not the crushing depression that I was experiencing. Just wanted to share because I think you are on sema. it's worth checking out.

Have you ever had your ferritin levels checked? Totally random but that and extremely low Vit D levels can attribute to feelings like this. Vyvanse and vitamin d supplementation have made me feel like a totally different human.

My husband feels this to the core. I’m glad you’re in therapy and taking care of your mental health. You are showing up to life. That’s all anyone could ever ask for. And hey, if there happens to be a day where you hit snooze a few more times than usual? That’s okay too! When you do get up? Absolutely treat yourself to a sweet treat ! Or maybe a sweater you’ve been eyeing.

As a therapist, you aren't alone. So many people and therapists even struggle. On top of it you have a chronic illness , please reach out to a therapist and talk to your prescriber about new meds or dose. Getting out and forcing movement is great, keep pushing!

Zoloft gave me visions of throwing my body out of my car going over the bridge. I have never had SI, it was from the med and I knew I didn't feel right. You might need a new rx 🫶

I firmly believe my brain is not wired for life/existence…... in THIS world we live in. We are meant for a life of hunting, gathering, living in villages and helping one another. We’ve lost all of it. My brain craves that type of life. I understand you.

I can only speak to what I know causes this for me, but it’s when I don’t have any goals. I don’t mean big goals like “do well in life, pay my house off someday, get married, have kids” but I am someone who always needs a goal that has attainable visual steps. Getting a degree, running a race, those types of on-paper-this-is-how-you-do-it goals. This summer it was as easy as “go to all the museums in an hour radius” one time I did a basketball bracket but for BBQ restaurants. These sorts of goals really work when I’m feeling like you described. I’m not saying this is what will work for you, I’m just sharing my experience 💕

Hey Sydney. As someone who has dealt with depression for most of my adult life I get it. If you don’t think your meds are working talk to your dr. In my late 20s/ early 30”s we realize that life is working to earn to spend. We are consumers first. And it sucks. Try cutting back on things you think will fill the void. Start investing in experiences and holidays. Explore the world while you can. You need to find the things that bring you joy and invest in them. Please watch Every Brilliant Thing. It changed how I think about the world.
