@restinpeace.tv: 🕯️ IN MEMORIAM: SUSAN SAINT JAMES (1946–2026) Television has lost one of its most warm and magnetic leading ladies. Susan Saint James died Monday at 80 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, her family confirmed to People. She became a household name opposite Rock Hudson in "McMillan & Wife," earning three consecutive Golden Globe nominations, and won a Primetime Emmy for her breakout role in "The Name of the Game." In 1984, she returned to series television alongside Jane Curtin in "Kate & Allie," playing one of two divorced mothers raising their kids together in Manhattan — a role that brought her two more Emmy nominations across the show's six-season run. Her family described her as someone who valued generosity over money and was instinctively drawn to whoever needed lifting up, adding that she never met a stranger and taught her children to pause, be kind, and look out for others. Saint James was married to longtime NBC executive Dick Ebersol for 45 years. The couple endured unimaginable loss in 2004, when their 14-year-old son Teddy died in a plane crash. She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2008 and is survived by Ebersol, four children, seven grandchildren, and her sister.
