I am Hispanic and from El Paso and there are a lot of people saying they don’t claim these individuals and that they do not represent us. And while there are many people who are not racist, there are far too many who are in our community and these statements come off as dismissive when there is a clear issue with racism in our community. This behavior is absolutely disgusting and these people and their parents need to be held accountable and our community needs to be better and holding each other accountable as well.

As a Black artist here in El Paso, been here for 20+years, l I can tell you that there's a level of passivity towards racial sensitivity that makes it feel deafening to speak out. There's truly a long history thats so deeply rooted in making ot seem like "it's not that deep". The way that non black el pasoans say n***a more often then I do is crazy.

I’m so sorry my people are really cooked, I wish they knew about the way Latinos were treated back in the day too. Ik my people tend to think that we didn’t suffer racism in America but we did just like other POC, I just don’t understand these Latinos who are racist. Like idk I’m tired of them

I lived in El Paso as I recovered from an injury in the military. I worked at Buffalo Wild Wings, and the things I experienced… on Halloween a woman came in, FULL black face.. dressed as Aunt Jemima. Faux pancakes in hand. I can’t tell you how many people refused to be served by “a little brown girl” as well. El Paso folks better stop acting like they don’t know..

I went to university in a city adjacent to El Paso and there’s a heavy military presence there, which is why I think that they like to pretend the racism doesn’t exist, but it is blatant and insidious.
