My son is 4 and on the OP5. He has 3 different timings for different targets throughout the day/night- some people have said when it gives the 0.05 basal when below because insulin obviously takes time to work it won’t effect a low immediately, but we’ve seen that as well. Messing with the max basal timings can help overnight, his target is way up at 150 even though throughout the day he’s at 110. Overnight definitely can be confusing on the OP5.

It's possible this is the effect of a recall. It's also not really possible to give advice on this without knowing their Omnipod settings. I can tell you that IF they have it in automattic mode, it will suspend when blood sugar is below target. Yes, you can increase target range overnight. (Omnipod user for 9 years)

Yes yes and YES. Thank you for brining attention to this. Omnipod ABSOLUTELY still doses when below target. I’ve seen this happen personally multiple times. When we see that we immediately manually suspend insulin. I personally believe it’s a glitch in the algorithm. I actually do not like omnipod but my daughter would never entertain tubes. I hope either Omnipod gets better or she will consider it when she’s older. Overnight there is no sleep mode but I do raise the target (to the chagrin of the Endo) as well as adjust the correction factor slightly so we do not fall below target. Yes, it’s a problem

Omnipod isn’t supposed to be micro dosing . You should be able to change the correction rate so they aren’t dropping so low . It sounds like that needs to be changed . Ps omnipods contain nickle in their insets . Which cause nasty reactions for me . The beta bionic mint will be pharmacy come 2027 they might want to start looking into it

This sounds like a correction factor setting which you can set at different amount for time of day I personally have 2. The micro dose is based off the trend on dex and remember Omni has an adaptive basal which I hate but that could be why it micro doses this is why I have to keep my target high 🙄

You can pause the insulin but …. I do have a different basal rate that goes to a lot less at certain hours at night. My endo set that rate change after my disaster a few weeks ago.

They might need a lower overnight basal rate. One thing that we were always told was to do snack at bed time. We went heavier on protein lower on carb

It all depends on the omnipod, so on the back there will be a blue stamp or a black stamp, my endo explained it to me so I actually wish mine would only stop at 80 or below, you can put it in activity mode overnight
