Most of us don’t get paid enough to have this mentality and reap the rewards like bonuses and promotion they just don’t happen anymore. We always hear “It’s been a tough year” Or layoffs. Sorry I can’t get with this.

What antiquated advice. Be incredibly productive during (working hours.) Being the last one out just shows you don’t know how to prioritize or you’re not very efficient. Most people have problems with deep focus. Stating late doesn’t solve anything. Working on your productivity is the real move.

I wanted to work my way up the corporate ladder when I started out but quickly realized it’s just a political game. Happy to say I’ve never acted like someone I’m not and have still earned a solid living. To each their own though

These comments are funny. Attitude is everything. Do the work. Take the initiative. If someone else got the promotion over you, then ask what you can do better, don’t get salty. Don’t agree at all. It’s so old school to think that you have to work 12-14h to be seen as “wanting to have a career”. You know what’s cool. I’m super ambitious and I can do my work very well and more within my 8h. I’m not available in the evenings or during the weekends because I have a life. And it’s still going very well for me in the big wild corporate world.
