I am gutted by your story. My husvand called the VA S hotline about 18 months ago and in the middle of his break down, the lady hung up on him. No one called back, no one spend EMS for a safety check... no one called me ( i had no idea he called). That day changed me. I knew I could have lost him and they didnt give two shits. They cant keep mental health professionals on staff so he also couldnt get appts. I am sorry this happened. People have no idea what its truly like.

My mouth was lethal to my bosses. I wanted to help everyone. Then when I worked in office at the actual Va hospital, I’d cry almost everyday. Like these people are missing limbs & yall want me to turn them away?? Hated it

I’m a nurse. My brother is a veteran, other family members veterans. I can NOT STAND THE VA. ESPECIALLY what they do for mental health for our veterans. It’s so unacceptable and sad. They deserve so much better, and get nothing.

I took my husband to the ER at the VA because my husband wanted to be checked in for mental health. It was on a weekend they told us to come in on Monday because they couldn’t take him in on the weekend. I lost my cool. I told them this is why you have so many veterans killing themself. I said you have a veteran wanting the help and you are sending us home and telling us to come back Monday. I said what if he doesn’t want help come Monday. Guess what Monday came and he didn’t want help. I will never forget that.
