@gray.area.finance: A comfortable UK retirement costs £3,783 a month after tax, or £45,400 a year for a single person. The full State Pension covers about £1,046 of that. Here are the five numbers to aim for. Check your National Insurance record on gov.uk, because each missing year costs about £359 a year. Figures are from Pensions UK's 2026 Retirement Living Standards. Illustrative only, not financial advice, just the maths. Save this and send it to someone who hasn't checked. #retireuk #retireearly #retirementuk #retiretok #retirementplanning

absolute rubbish if you have no mortgage or rent to pay and just basic living expenses you wouldn't need £3800 a month

If the average salary in the UK is £40,911, in Scotland your take home is £2,607 pm and that excludes rent/mortage, how £3,783 is the net required for a comfortable retirement. The label is probably mis-leading and used to be labelled luxurious. Moderate, the middle band is £2,725 and still higher than disposable income after rent/mortgage so the figures all sound nuts

Why does one person need 3700 to be comfortable? Living costs are about 800

You can’t say what people need a month to retire on! There’s so many different circumstances.

ok, so the 600k is a pot aside from already having a pension from another source worth about 2 500 per month. I'm trying to understand the £600k
