@everythingeverglades: Croczilla, as he is known far and wide, is an exceptional American crocodile estimated at roughly 15 or more feet long, perhaps one of the biggest in the Everglades. One wonders what he may have seen is his 40? 60? more? years on earth. Every time I go to Flamingo I pass through the Nine Mile Pond parking lot hoping for a glimpse of him. Not impossible as he does like to bask in the grass at water’s edge on occasion. But it’s rare. Of the many times I’ve been, I can still count on one hand the number of times I’ve seen him. Friday was one of those rare lucky days! Just me and him sitting quietly for an hour as the light faded. Wind, rain, mosquitoes, didn’t matter. I remain forever in awe of this majestic animal and grateful that he calls home a place where he is protected. #croczilla #evergladesnationalpark #americancrocodile #majestic #everythingeverglades
