A bite out of life :
These were my great grandmother’s favorite flower! My grandfather would grow these for her and take them to her grave every year. I never knew the name of them until this post. Thank you 🙏

they WILL grow like that but the wax will eventually kill it, I suggest after it flowers to cut the wax off gently and repot it, they are beautiful flowers though!

keep it after it sprouts and repot it! i’ve had this one from trader joe’s for 3 or 4 years and it gave me another flower over the summer :)

I got one for Christmas 3 yrs ago and she blooms beautiful red flowers every year. I did take the wax off after the 1st bloom and planted her in a pot.

Its an amaryllis. Its a bulb that has all the nutrients that it needs in its bulb. Yes it will bloom. If you want it to rebloom you can pot it after its done blooming and cold storage it in late autumn/early winter.

You might not need water to have one single blooming season out of it, but if you take that wax off and plant it, you’ll have many years of blames

They are called amaryllis, they are beautiful! Cut it out of the wax, it's a perennial. I'm in the Florida panhandle and mine flower usually the 1st week of April. Over winter they are fine here, but I'll cover them before a deep freeze.
