I live in the Texas panhandle and learned to make them from scratch because there is no place near me that makes them.
They are my favorite cookie. ❤️❤️

I just made my mom’s mother’s cookie recipe for the first time in about 20 years (yeah, WAY too long!) - I love the history that recipes carry with them!

this is so true! my dad's first cousin is from chimayo, she makes some of the best in my opinion. I've asked for the recipe and was told that the family secret. why? you're going to be dead someday. share the greatness!

my grandma died when I was in middle school and I'm the only one that can make her bread or her various recipes. I loved cooking with her as a kid.

We want to carry on our tradition! Anyone know of a good flour substitute? We are new to gluten sensitivity.

My dad had warm memories of his mother’s biscochitos that weren’t the sugar-coated things that we have now, but were thick tea biscuits heavy on the anise. It was like Friends and the cookies. We made 13 versions before my dad was satisfied with the outcome!

My great grandmother’s adobe in Abiquiu . I’ll never forget, sitting at her table. She had the wood burner going and was pulling out batch after batch. My brother and I were eating them as fast as they came out. You see, we didn’t speak Spanish and she only did. We thought she was giving them to us. Was all fine and dandy till mom showed up. today a cousin has the recipe you never see him without him giving you a big tin of biscochitos
