The veil between worlds only thins between ours and Mictlan. If you don’t got ancestors in Mictlan then there really isn’t anyone that will be returning for you. This isn’t a day of the dead for pets, it’s a part of dia de muertos which is a strictly Mexican celebration that is rooted in our indigenous heritage. It’s not for everybody to celebrate and I wish that people would respect this.

I sat here ugly crying last night, looking at videos of people's ofrendas. For like 2 hours. Two of my oldest cats died at 18 this summer and last week I found a kitten in my yard and brought him in, and it's so hard to play with him and not think of them
