@honestreporting: Here’s how U.S. foreign military funding actually works: When politicians claim billions spent on Israeli weapons could fund Medicare instead, they’re conflating arms sales with foreign aid. Israel buying American-made military equipment is not U.S. taxpayer money being handed over. It is money flowing to American companies and workers. The military aid the U.S. does provide is largely restricted to purchasing American defense equipment. And at roughly $3.3 billion a year, eliminating it would barely make a dent in the trillions required for Medicare for All. Cutting aid to Israel does not fund healthcare or infrastructure. It simply turns Israel into a scapegoat for political choices made in Washington.

Oh BS the United States gives Israel billions of dollars every year. We should not give a dime to Israel. They are committing a genocide in Palestine and we should not be helping Israel at all.

🫩 Palestinians Actually Receive More U.S. Economic Funding Than Israel. And nobody talks about it. People in America repeat the false idea that “aid to Israel is bankrupting the U.S.” It’s emotional, it’s loud, and it’s completely disconnected from reality. Israel is America’s cheapest and most effective strategic ally. U.S. military financing to Israel actually saves the American economy an estimated 15-20 billion dollars every year through joint R&D, shared intelligence, and the fact that the U.S. doesn’t need a single permanent soldier stationed in the most explosive and strategically critical region on the planet. But if you really want to understand where U.S. money actually goes in this region, you have to look at the Palestinian governing systems. 👉 West Bank The governing administration survives on foreign donations, including direct American budget support that pays for civil salaries, ministries, pensions, and security forces. Around 20–30% of the West Bank’s annual budget depends on the United States alone. 👉 Gaza The governing system is almost fully financed from abroad. Roughly 90–95% of its budget comes from foreign governments and international institutions, and American taxpayers play a central role in keeping those services alive through UN programs and humanitarian aid. With almost no local tax base, everything from electricity to food distribution, salaries, and health programs depends on outside money, including substantial U.S. funding every single year. Meanwhile, Israel receives 0% U.S. funding for its civilian budget, funds about 88% of its military spending in peacetime, and still covers roughly 78% even during wartime, making it one of the only U.S. partners that actually lowers America’s strategic costs. Former U.S. President John F. Kennedy described foreign aid as: “A method by which the United States maintains the frontiers of freedom without stationing troops.” In the Middle East, that quote applies to one nation only: Israel. 🇮🇱 Bottom line: Palestinians receive far more U.S. economic funding than Israel does. Israel is the one saving America money, not costing it. And the truth deserves to be said loudly.
