@therapistinrecovery: Learning how to compartmentalize (or procrastinate if you want to get fun with the wording) future “problems” and instead come back to the present moment is essential to managing anxiety and ocd. Most problems feel like they are in the here and now but that’s actually the work of our very clever brain. Then we feel helpless, anxious, and out of control. Because we are. We can’t do anything about a problem that hasn’t happened and may not. So we have to be so intentional with focusing on today. If you’re ready to fully learn how to do this, dm me about my online course- coming next month! #obsessivecompulsivedisorder #ocd #anxietyhelp #anxietycheck #ocdtiktok
Rumination also counts as a mental compulsion right? Like trying to “figure out” or “solve” an obsession? Mental gymnastics etc

@slamm422: Yes! This is my whole existence 😭 Looking for problems at every moment with my relationship. Past betrayal has only amplified this. It’s so exhausting to live inside my head

As a person with OCD who lives through a war, still manages to work, have relationships and friends, you’d think my brain would have better things to do than coming up with this OCD sh… but nope!😂😶🌫️missiles fly, OCD runs high lol

this is why I give my brain silly problems to solve. like what 5 tv characters could I live with for a year. and I make it an emergency like I have to have made the list by the end of the day. it sounds stupid but it helps sometimes when I feel like I'm just stuck overthinking. I give it something else to overthink about that's not stressful.

Also, the brain remembers that right before something bad happened there was the absence of the bad thing, therefore when it’s a peaceful season the brain starts preparing for the bad thing. Weirdly, peace = threat.

Yeah, I think you’re right. This is definitely a problem, but we’re created to solve problems over and over. So that makes total sense!

How do I know if I have emetophobia or ocd? Also, I’m obsessing over figuring this out so maybe it is OCD 😅
