I think a lot of people think Revolution plays out dramatically as it would in a book or movie, but all I can think about is the entire part where katniss witnesses an entire hospital bombed. There’s a life cost to revolution- and right now we live in a developed nation where we have the privilege to affect change at a high level without the threats incurred by the rebels in Panem.

if you’re not voting, don’t bother calling yourself an ally to any of the marginalized communities in the us. unless, of course, you’re getting out of your house and making a difference in some fashion, don’t bother calling yourself an ally if you can’t even be assed to vote. just because you’re privileged enough to be free of the consequences of not voting, doesn’t mean that everyone is—people are being killed in ice detention centers right now bc people didn’t vote. and guess what, not voting didn’t save anyone in palestine either; in fact, it actually made things worse for them, bc trump is a good friend of netenyahu. so please, just lock in and vote in the midterms, or at least stop bothering to call yourself an ally

im just kinda confused about what people genuinely want when they oppose harm reduction voting practices, especially on a state/federal level. like i can get behind taking dedicated strides on an individual level to build community and unionize, but i just dont see the level of organization presently that would be necessary for true revolution. so why is there such a strong adversity (from some creators not necessarily you) to doing all you can to support candidates that best fit your ideal worldview and then ultimately supporting the best option available

60 years ago, the capitalist class allied with the white Christian nationalists to dismantle the economic policies that had been put in place to prevent a socialist revolt, 30 years prior. Which gets us close enough to your 100 years to prove incrementalism doesn't work. Otherwise we wouldn't have lost Union power, Black people's hard won rights wouldn't have been able to have been dismantled, abortion rights would still exist and literally everything else wrong in the world

I’m not even a big fan of the anti-harm reduction mentality, I just think it’s a really stupid concept to look at series about a revolt against an authoritarian government where there’s no options but revolt or kids get offed & say “this proves harm reduction.” Anti-harm reduction leftists are far more analogous to Gale (I don’t like Gale)

I find that nobody understands the hunger games because nobody understands the Vietnam war. Suzanne Collin’s wrote THG based off of the Vietnam war, her father being a Korean War & Vietnam war officer, and growing up watching the propaganda surrounding the Vietnam war and the fallout and how both political systems and our government as an entirety is corrupted. Nothing about the hunger games is “hey girlie vote for Kamala 🥰🥰” or “vote for Trump 🇺🇸” it’s actually about putting an arrow in both of their hearts and walking away.
