The Haskell Bridge, also known as the Old OK-104 Bridge, is a historic abandoned bridge located in rural Wagoner County, Oklahoma, approximately 2.4 miles east of the community of Haskell. Spanning the Arkansas River, this impressive structure is nationally significant for its engineering design and is recognized as one of the longest surviving simple-span, pin-connected truss bridges in the United States. Built in 1911 by the Missouri Valley Bridge and Iron Company of Leavenworth, Kansas, the bridge measures approximately 1,564 feet long. Its massive steel framework features ten main truss spans, each roughly 175 feet long, along with three steel stringer approach spans. Designed with an eight-panel, pin-connected Parker through-truss configuration, it originally carried Oklahoma State Highway 104 across the Arkansas River, connecting areas of Wagoner and Muskogee counties. Today, the Haskell Bridge stands abandoned after being bypassed by a newer road alignment. Although much of its steel framework and concrete deck remain standing, severe deterioration of its underwater foundation piers threatens the bridge’s long-term structural stability. Both ends have been blocked, and the surrounding property is privately owned, leaving the bridge as a significant piece of Oklahoma’s transportation history and a subject of interest for historic preservationists and bridge enthusiasts. #oklahoma #usa🇺🇸
