There was a town of judgment people throwing stones at me and I took the stones and made a wall in the walk. They kept throwing stones at me and I took the stones and made a castle. They threw so many stones at me. That I was able to make a cancel and escape from the trauma and I became a warren princess, with a flamin' sword with sapphires and rubies and emeralds holding a flamin' sword and my Crown had flames coming out of it because I became A warring princess with\n A castle that's lined in rubies and emeralds and diamonds and sapphire with wine and strawberry crepes.@Darla B G7 #aicast #PeacefulVibes #orangespicetea #fyfyfyfy #fyp

When "I'm not leaving my house" is really saying something deeper. What if the argument about leaving the house isn't really about the house? For 17 years, I have had conversations with families and individuals who were afraid of what came next Sometimes the words were, "I'm not leaving my house.'" And I learned that pushing harder didn't always move the conversation forward. Sometimes I had to stop trying and listen. After 17 years working with individuals and families, I've learned something important. Sometimes when an older adult refuses to leave home, they aren't simply refusing help. They may be afraid of losing their independence. They may be afraid of strangers making decisions for them. They may be afraid of leaving behind the memories of a spouse, children, and a lifetime of living. And sometimes, they simply want someone to listen. Before we try to change someone's mind, we need to understand what is on their mind. That doesn't mean ignoring safety concerns. It means having a respectful conversation about what possible, what is safe, and what choices remain. Not every person needs to leave home. And not every person can safely remain at home without additional support. The goal isn't to win an argument. The goal is to find a solution without taking away someone's dignity. Let's talk: Have you ever had a loved one refuse to leave their home? What do you think they were most afraid of losing? #DementiaCare #caregiversupport #caregiverlife #FollowMeAcrossTheBridge Educational purposes only. Individual care and safety needs should be assessed with appropriate professionals.
