@uncomfortable.comp: #SCIENTISTS HAVE DEVELOPED A #DEVICE that sends tiny ELECTRICAL PULSES TO THE TONGUE to help retrain the brain and reduce #chronic ringing in the ears! 👂🧠 The remarkable #technology could offer new hope to millions of people suffering from tinnitus, a condition that causes persistent ringing, buzzing or hissing sounds even when there's no external noise. For some sufferers, the condition can be so severe that it interferes with sleep, concentration and everyday life. But researchers have discovered an unusual way to help the brain process these phantom sounds differently! The treatment involves a device called Lenire, which combines specially designed sounds played through headphones with gentle electrical stimulation delivered to the tongue. The technique, known as "bimodal neuromodulation", is designed to encourage changes in the brain's neural pathways, potentially making the persistent noises less noticeable. And the results have been incredibly promising! In a study published in 2026, researchers found that approximately 82% of patients with moderately troublesome or worse tinnitus experienced clinically meaningful improvements after 12 weeks of treatment. The device also received authorisation from the US FDA in 2023, marking an important milestone for the technology. Although it isn't a guaranteed cure and doesn't work for everyone, the treatment represents an exciting development for a condition that has historically been extremely difficult to treat. For people who have spent years hearing a constant ringing that nobody else can hear, even a significant reduction in symptoms could be life-changing! ❤️
