@thefrightcamp: Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia has one of the creepiest haunted reputations in America. Opened in 1829, the prison became known for its strict isolation system, where inmates spent most of their time alone in their cells. After closing in 1971, the abandoned cellblocks became associated with stories of shadowy figures, unexplained laughter, strange voices and other activity visitors couldn’t explain. Some of the most famous reports come from Cellblocks 4, 6 and 12. None of the paranormal claims have been proven, but the prison’s history is unsettling enough on its own.
