How many minutes have you spent talking to your mother this week? Someone once asked me that question. And when I looked back through my call history, I realized that there had been weeks when I hadn't called my mother at all. My older siblings' families used to eat their meals together. But now, they often eat separately, even when everyone is home at dinnertime. Simply because eating alone allows each person to enjoy their meal while scrolling through their phones. The same is true for some of my friends. When I asked them,
How many minutes have you spent talking to your mother this week? Someone once asked me that question. And when I looked back through my call history, I realized that there had been weeks when I hadn't called my mother at all. My older siblings' families used to eat their meals together. But now, they often eat separately, even when everyone is home at dinnertime. Simply because eating alone allows each person to enjoy their meal while scrolling through their phones. The same is true for some of my friends. When I asked them, "How many minutes a day have you spent talking to your children this week?" they all gave me this answer. "The sound they heard most often, once their children reached their teenage years, was the sound of a bedroom door closing, followed by silence." Perhaps there has never been a time when connecting with the rest of the world was as easy as it is today. And the people living under the same roof sometimes have fewer things to talk about than ever before. Children grow up surrounded by smartphones and computers. Their interests, their idols, and the stories they care about gradually become a world of their own, one that parents and grandparents cannot always easily enter. Family dinners sometimes end in boredom and silence. It's simply that, as the distance between generations grows, finding something everyone genuinely cares about can become increasingly difficult. And then I began to notice something beautiful in the stories LingOrm fans had shared with me. Through some wonderful little magic of the universe, LingOrm have become a meeting point for generations separated by decades of age. Throughout the time I've spent writing about LingOrm, I've received messages from fans all over the world. Some are women in their sixties or seventies. They tell me about their affection for these two young actresses, the series they've watched, the moments that moved them, and sometimes even memories from their own lives. An lovely Italian reader told me that she had discovered LingOrm by chance when her daughter was watching The Secret of Us. At first, it was simply a series her daughter enjoyed. Then one evening, mother and daughter decided to watch it together. And they stayed awake until four in the morning, watching it side by side. I smiled for a long time when I read her story. Because I couldn't help thinking that somewhere in this world, there must be many other families with similar stories. Just imagine a Friday evening. Instead of everyone retreating to their own bedrooms with their phones in their hands, a mother, a grandmother, and their daughters prepare some snacks and sweets, settle down together on the sofa, and eagerly wait for the newest episode of LingOrm's series. They don't necessarily have to agree about everything that happens in the series. But at least, for that one evening, they have something to talk about together. At first glance, none of this may seem particularly extraordinary. But in reality, those precious moments when parents and children can talk freely and comfortably with one another are worth more than all the gold and silver in the world. We do not stop loving, feeling deeply, or dreaming simply because we grow older. Our experiences may be different. But the joy of witnessing a beautiful, happy love story knows no age limit. When a daughter discovers that her mother can still be just as excited, adorable, and passionately devoted to her idols as she is. I once wrote that LingOrm make the world map feel smaller, because they bring together people who live thousands of kilometers apart, giving them the chance to meet and become friends. But today, I want to talk about a different kind of distance. The distance between generations. LingOrm have truly helped people living under the very same roof find another reason to sit a little closer together, another reason to start a conversation. ❤️ BloomJ | LingOrmBloom #lingorm #inspiration #Love #family #happy
