I have to wonder who in HR approved this. Typically HR is risk averse, this one feels like an obvious lawsuit risk. Who thought it was ok to tie severance to application for roles that are not even remotely similar to the current role?! Did no one check the union agreements? I can't imagine the bargaining agreements would have allowed that. Who is in charge at AT&T in Peoria?!

I used to be a nurse manager and I always say, all nurses need a manager who has their back and a strong union. If leadership is being equitable and transparent, there should be few issues with a good union. This applies to all industries.
