my accomodations in college were helpful! I just had them for tests, and I got time and a half to take them, and was able to take them in a quiet room. by the time I was an upperclassmen my professors knew and trusted me and often would let me take them in their office/lab, instead of having to go to the library for the specific testing rooms. I didn't get my ADHD diagnosis until 5 years after graduating, but my GAD diagnosis was enough for the tests

this is also on the schools where they're coming from. took me years into my career to realize we didn't meaningfully develop an exit plan for a bunch of our students in the process of graduating high school. just stopping to discuss where they would take their IEPs and provided a digital one made a huge difference.

Thank you. When I taught at the community college, many instructors tried to deny the students the accommodations. As a special education teacher, I would tell them to fight back and contact the Director of Student Disabilities.

i’ve had so many issues with the DRC at my college. They say they take a social justice approach by not requiring proof of disability, but then they get really weird and dismissive when asking for accommodations they’re not used to offering (remote tests) or when I explain I have multiple health conditions, then they ghost me when I offer medical documentation 🙄
